About Great Ormond Street Hospital:

One of the world’s leading children’s hospitals Great Ormond Street Hospital is home to the largest range of children’s specialists under one roof in the UK. Together with research partner UCL Institute of Child Health they are also the largest centre for research into childhood illnesses outside of North America. Many of the children the hospital treats have complex and unique conditions that require the expertise that only Great Ormond Street Hospital can provide. Each year the hospital has over 200,000 admissions and outpatient visits, over 90 per cent of these are specialist services.

Whilst the NHS meets the day to day running costs of the hospital, fundraising income is essential for Great Ormond Street Hospital to remain at the forefront of child healthcare. The current priority for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity is to fund the essential redevelopment of two thirds of the hospital, parts of which were built in the 1930’s. As paediatric medicine advances, the buildings have become out dated and unfit for purpose; they are simply too small and cramped for our growing needs. In addition to funding the redevelopment, the charity continues to fund other aspects of the hospital’s work such as research grants, parent’s accommodation, the Weston House patient hotel and specialist medical equipment.

How you can help?

It happens at the checkout point, where all you have to do is agree to a donation of your choice. You can make your donation go even further by selecting the Gift Aid feature which will allow the hospital to claim additional benefits on the donation.

At the beginning of each year we also create a range of products to support the charity's Kiss It Better Campaign, donating a percentage of profits from all sales of the range to the appeal. More information on the Kiss it Better appeal can be found below.

The Kiss it Better appeal:

Kiss it Better is Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity’s appeal to raise funds for research into the causes and treatment of childhood cancer. The appeal runs throughout February each year with a focus around Valentine’s Day, tying in with the anniversary of the hospital’s opening on 14 February 1852.

In the UK each year, cancer kills more children aged one-14 years than any other disease. At Great Ormond Street Hospital we treat one child in every nine that is diagnosed with cancer in the UK and with UCLH we form the largest centre for paediatric cancer treatment in Europe.

Each decade childhood cancer survival rates improve, but for certain childhood cancers the survival rates still remain extremely low. By supporting Kiss it Better you will be raising funds for research into and the treatment of childhood cancer, helping more children with cancer get better.
